Michael Jackson dies five minutes away from me at UCLA medical center. He was fifty and his death may be a godsend gift to the Iranian government.
The world would be focusing on his death and in spite of him flashing the V sign and wearing a surgical mask (like the Iranian protesters do), his death may be the hardest blow to the people’s revolt in Iran. The media circus will continue to take the attention away from Iran and that would be the real tragedy.
Not knowing the cause of it, I’ve been annoyed by helicopters hovering over my house all afternoon; I am saddened by his death.

I will never forget his most amazing performance of Billy Jean in 1983 (Motown 25 celebration). It’s like Fred Astaire’s dance: you never get tired of watching it.

Well done. Exactly what I thought as soon as I heard the news. In ordinary circumstances I would have been very sorry because he and his supporting cast made MTV what it was in the 1980’s, a progressive audio/video channel, creating a new opportunity for talented and gifted Pop artists. His Thriller album will stay one of the best in Pop music and, as you correctly mentioned, Billy Jean and other music videos could be watched by the future generations. But, I am so much mentally in Iran that I just can’t think much about him.
I always thought that Michael was another victim of the commercial music machine in this country. A child artist who could not handle fame and fortune and was a lost soul for the past twenty years. I agree with you that his sudden death was a blessing for him and he might have found peace after all those troubled years. It’s a pity that he could not contribute more to the music world. What a waste of talent…
It is a sad day. I am always amazed at the way his music transcended race, and geographic location. There are very few places in the world that weren’t aware of the ‘king of pop’. It’s strange to think that the future generation will know him like I know Elvis.

Couldn’t agree with you more. He was certainly a musical genius, but a lost soul and weird indeed. The main stream media ad nauseam coverage of his passing while Iran’s future could actually change and Iraq’s oil rights are up for grabs by Exxon and Shells of the world is inexcusable. Does anyone really want to hear a blow by blow account of where Michael Jackson’s dead body is, while on route from the coroner’s office to the mortuary? I can hardly stand to watch Anderson Cooper and even Rachel Maddow, as they repeat the same stuff over and over, as if there is nothing else going on the world! The scary part is that they heavily influence what people talk about and if we are not careful it even changes how we think and what we think about.
