Love is in the (freezing )air…

Another Valentine’s Day and another excuse to say I love you to people who matter—in the universal language of poetry and roses…

I am in love,

with  Italo Calvino but he doesn’t care much about me…I have to dedicate a post to him!

“Mon bel amour mon cher amour ma déchirure
Je te porte dans moi comme un oiseau blessé
Et ceux-là sans savoir nous regardent passer
Répétant après moi les mots que j’ai tressés
Et qui pour tes grands yeux tout aussitôt moururent” Aragon

Let’s stay in Europe with an Irish poet:

“Her scarf a la Bardot,
In suede flats for the walk,
She came with me one evening
For air and friendly talk.
We crossed the quiet river,
Took the embankment walk.” Seamus Heaney

Some sexy poetry from the good old English poet:

“The things about you I appreciate
May seem indelicate:
I’d like to find you in the shower
And chase the soap for half an hour.
I’d like to have you in my power
And see your eyes dilate.” John Fuller

One last poem from Fereydoon Moshiri:

“I’d like to be your only audience,

The final name in your appointment book,

Your future tense.”

  1. I won’t return to La Maison Rouge,
on Valentine, not out of luck,
    but because I live there,
    every day of my life;

    Only on Valentine,
let it remain for others to visit,
who need a make up excuse…..

    The paint is faded,
on the knob of the red door,
    by tomorrow,
    when I return;
    reminiscent of old flaking memories re touched;

    Then again life returns,
    to attend her,
as the lover, architect & gardner.

  2. Wishing you Happy Valentine>>
As always stunning Pictures and beautiful post..

    INITIAL

    Out of infinite longings rise
    finite deeds like weak fountains,
falling back just in time and trembling.
And yet, what otherwise remains silent,
    our happy energies—show themselves
    in these dancing tears.

    – Rainer Maria Rilke

  3. These photos are amazing. Why don’t you turn them into post cards for valentine? I am sure there are poeple out there, tired of hallmark cards, who would pay for these artistically great shots.

  4. Very Touching. Enjoyed reading your Blog.

I feel love is the most important thing without it there is just nothing, Valentine’s Day should be celebrated everyday of your life. You might have heard the song of Jim Reeves “I d like to be” and Cliff Richard “You’re loving Teddy Bear” I play them every valentine alongwith Donny Osmond’ collection, they give you a good happy feeling.
One of he best lines I’ve heard on Valentine’s day
“I’d settle for just crossing you’re mind”

  5. j’aime la pluie qui tombe sur vos cheveux,

nous marchons lentement dans la ville

c’est le soir , nous allons vers le destin

    sans savoir…..

bientot, le ciel se couvrira, une legere brume

    passera

nous resterons dans cette ville ce soir

  7. Dear Lucy:

    A poem for this day:

Warming Her Pearls – Carol Ann Duffy.

Next to my own skin, her pearls. My mistress
bids me wear, them, until evening
when I’ll brush her hair. A six, I place them round her cool, white throat. All day I think of her,

resting in the Yellow Room, contemplating silk
or taffeta, which gown tonight? She fans herself
whilst I work willingly, my slow heat entering
each pearl. Slack on my neck, her rope.

She’s beautiful. I dream about her
in my attic bed; picture her dancing
with tall men, puzzled by my faint persistent scent
beneath her French perfume, her milky stones.

I dust her shoulders with a rabbit’s foot,
watch the soft brush seep through her skin
like an indolent sigh. In her looking-glass
my red lips part as through I want to speak.

Full moon. Her carriage brings her home. I see
her every movement in my head…. Undressing,
taking off her jewels, her slim hand reaching,
for the case, slipping naked into bed, the way

she always does…And I lie here awake,
knowing the pearls are cooling even now
in the room where my mistress sleeps. All night
I feel their absence and I burn.

    Your Valentine Images
    rather make my smile
    crinkle even more.
